The EHERCC is pleased to confirm that it has published its Annual Report and Financial Statements for 2018. Jeff Collins noted “We received wonderful support from so many people, raising over £130,000 for EHE research.”
Dr Kate Hooper and Elizabeth Milligan were delighted with the research progress also made through the year. Kate noted “Dr Rubin’s research progress continues to be exciting with excellent progress made in his drug and compound screening assay”. Liz was also excited by the progress made in the UK. “We initiated an important project at the University of Sheffield to develop an EHE zebrafish model, and concluded and signed contracts with the University of Manchester for a four-year PHD looking to understand how EHE affects the development of endothelial cells”.
Hugh Leonard, Chair of Trustees, thanked everybody who had supported the charity. “Whether it was raising such large sums of money for EHE research; providing support through our social forums for EHE patients; or the researchers, doctors and scientists who are driving the programmes to improve our understanding of EHE and find new therapeutic treatments, we would not have done any of it without their brilliant support.” Hugh also wanted to say a special thank you to the Charity’s Research and Medical Advisory Team. “Huge thanks also go to Dr Robin Jones, Dr Robin Young and Dr Brian Rubin who together have continued to provide the Trustees with the clinical and research guidance we need to ensure that we are supporting appropriate projects”.
