The energy and enthusiasm of our members and their supporters has continues to grow. At the end September total funds raised by the Charity exceeded £80,000. Hugh Leonard, Chair of Trustees, said “we are amazed at what our supporters have already achieved. Their energy and dedication inspires us to work harder than ever to beat this wretched cancer”.
Significant sums have been raised by Milly and Alastair Simmie from Kent with support of their friends and family. Milly was diagnosed with EHE in July, the diagnosis being confirmed the day before Milly and Alastair’s wedding. Friends and family have been magnificent and the support Milly has received, some from complete strangers, has been humbling. Milly is determined that the totals already donated on her Just Giving pages are just the start.
Nicola Henderson, based near Bristol, has also been driving the fundraising with her own wonderfully supportive friends and family. There have been a number of 10km runs completed, a race night held, with further runs and events planned before the end of the year. Engagement of the wider community has also been inspiring, as demonstrated by Jimmy Deane, a local fruit and veg stall owner who knows Nicola and will be running the London marathon to support her and the EHE Rare Cancer Charity. He will be joined in the London marathon by Nicola’s Uncle Robert and her friend Mark Spure. It will be a great event.
Other members and their families and friends have also been donating to the charity. We are deeply grateful to everybody for their support and dedication in helping us beat EHE cancer.
